Has anyone ever been in late May / early June? Is it too hot and miserable to climb?

Hot here does not mean miserable. The temps do not (normally) get extreme and the way the walls are oriented there is always shade somewhere. Bring a partner, though, 'cuz you will probably be the only ones here.

Hey Ed, What about mid-may for multi-pitch? My mother-in-law will be in town to visit, which makes it the ideal time for me to go on vacation. Going earlier involves serious negotiation for baby-sitting. I've been down there before, and given the many canyons, I'm sure its always possible to find shade for single-pitch, but if I can't do the classic multi-pitches, like black cat bone and space boyz, it will be a dismal trip for us. Should I just do whatever it takes to come a few months earlier if multi-pitch is our goal? Thanks, Sam

Mid-May is fine for multi-pitch. Snott Girlz, Pancho Villa Rides Again, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Estrellita, Super Nova and lots of good 3 pitch routes will be in the shade all morning. By early afternoon you'll be good to go on the long routes on the Jungle Wall--you can climb until dark and bring headlamps for the descent. Do bring a partner, though, 'cuz there prolly wont be too many other climbers here then.
