i and 4 friends are in the middle of planning a climbing trip for next week and just recently looked at the weather forecast, which predicts 40-70% chance rain from Looking Glass to red river to the New...all the way up to the gunks. Does anyone know where there are a lot of bolted routes that stay dry?? its the only break we have for a while and would like to make this trip worthwhile. thanks!!

climbing sport in NC is like ordering a burger in a sushi restaurant.
Go to the RRG and get on the steeps lots of it stays dry even in downpours

And climbing it in the rain is like getting that burger cooked extra well done.

+1 for the red.

I think it's still a little early to plan on the weather where you are going so you can defer for a few days.

But RRG is a good choice for rain. Or the North Face of Looking Glass if it's not too cold.

It is still pretty early to look at the weather. It looks like it may rain Thursday-Friday night. Keep in mid that the NF of LG is still very cold and there is still a bunch of snow in the area. Plus the road is closed at the fish hatchery and it is now a ~1 hr walk to the closest LG areas, and even farther to the NF.
