I purchased a guide book to HCR and the sport climbing looks sweet. Does anyone know if there are any good toprope routes for beginner level climbers?

You will have to get you a "rope gun" (someone to climb the route and hang your rope). Last time I checked no one is allowed on top of the rock. I don't know if this is a safety thing or it is considered someone elses land. You can always get there and ask people to hang a rope for you or you can hire a guide.

Call HCR and ask.

there's a lot of really easy sport leads at the north fourty and you could lead it then let your beginners toprope there. plenty of 5.5 - 5.8 climbs for beginners.

The top of the cliffs at HCR are on someone else's property---but there is not a walk up anyway. Get a rope gun or some draws and cajones. I will be there most weekends--PM me and I will be happy to sling up a rope.

I'm also taking some beginner level climbers out to HCR. We're going out there at the end of March, if you're going to be out there then, I'd be happy to help sling ropes for you. PM me for details if you wanna meet up.

Jason, it is usually busy on weekends this time of year, I would not think that you would have too much trouble. Go to the North Forty area for the highest concentration of climbers. I will be there this Saturday and Sunday and could give you a belay if you like.

Dude just go to Sam's throne. Dozens (hundreds?) of top rope-able climbs there with easy top access. Less than an hour from HRC.

Hi Chad,
We are heading up to HCR Friday-sunday, are you going to be around? If so would you be able to belay some leads...We are getting better on our own together (wife and I) but it would still be nice to have a stronger belayer...Thanks

If you are looking for top ropable climbs, go to Sam's Throne.
