Linville River Boulders, Moore's Wall, and Stone Mountain all have some boulders. Linville probably has the most in that area, but are a PITA to get to. You have to hike to the base of the gorge. Its a good camp and boulder option due to the time required to get down there and back out.

Boone area has wonderful bouldering, about an hour from you. Check out Grandmother Boulders off the Blue Ridge Parkway (next to 221 in Linville) in the summer if it's not too hot.. Also Blowing Rock boulders.. I think there's a website called http://booneboulders.com, sorry if that doesn't work.. Also, I've heard that Grayson Highlands State Park has some bouldering, do a search on this site. That would be around 30 minutes away. Mt. Rogers in GHSP is awesome just to explore, and I think there is some backcountry type bouldering you could do there.
