Hello everyone, I am spending the summer in Red Feather Lakes, CO. I was wondering if anyone had info on routes within 30-40 miles of the village. I have heard they have good bouldering up there. I would like to find something closer than the Estes Park area or Boulder, but am unaware of any books or websites on the local area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not much for sport up there. There are a few (read little over a hand full) routes spread around. The bouldering is way more prolific, though still spread out.

Here's some info on climbing in the Poudre Canyon (sport and bouldering) and bouldering near Horsetooth Reservoir outside of Fort Collins. http://www.nococlimbing.org/climbing

Poudre Canyon's probably your best bet. You ought to be able to take some dirt roads directly from the lakes down to Hwy 14. Could be within 30 minutes of you.

Probably less. Poudre Canyon is only about 6-8 miles south of Red Feather Lakes though I haven't actually been up there in years. It looks like county roads 162, 68, 69 are a pretty quick cut between.

Well, accounting for dirt-road driving and the time spent on Hwy 14 to get to the climbing, I figured 30 minutes was a reasonable guess.

I don't have any specific information, but there is a lot of climbing at the Red Feather Lakes. Ask around, you may find the right crowd that knows all about it. I have an old magazine that has descriptions of the development going on there. When I get home I will dig it up and let you know what mag & issue it is.
