Google Map Not functioning

When I click "Update" in the routes section of the website on the Latitude Longitude form, it opens two more text boxes. One for latitude and one for longitude. There is also a button that says "Show map."

When I click this button in both Firefox and Google Chrome an additional window opens however the google map never shows up.

I'd like to start updating where various crags are located, so any suggestions on how to get it working? Is this on my end or on the website's end?

It's not your fault...Wink

Google changed some of their code.

@psmarais: as posted by TS in the link above, simply changing G_MAP_TYPE to G_NORMAL_MAP will get things working again.

Thank you for the reply, however where does one change those settings?

I've attached a screenshot of what I am seeing, and I sure don't see anything having to do with G_MAP_TYPE.

The attachment is just a screenshot of the java window that opens when I click "Open Map."

...sorry, as you can see, that part of my response wasn't aimed at you. Wink
There is nothing you can do to fix it.

Edit...well, there is...sort of, but it would involve you duplicating and altering a portion of the site's code locally on your own machine. In other words, a PITA...Tongue

Edit x2: BTW, you will see the G_MAP_TYPE error if you open the "error console" in Firefox:

Well, something got fixed for sure as the map now shows up when I hit the "show map" button.

I don't know if this is the same issue though, but I've run into another problem...

When I go to this link:
http://www.rockclimbing.com/..._not_sure_the_name_/

The map doesn't work.

However it works fine on this link:
http://www.rockclimbing.com/...son_River/Neat_Rock/

It works on some other random links I've found too, but there are a whole bunch that I've been updating in the South west and South Central Montana that the maps are not working, even though I've put in the Lat and Long.

Ideas?

Seems to be working now! Thanks for the fix!

Now I might just be getting picky, but you all seem to be good at getting to the root of things!

So, with that said, what about adding scroll wheel functionality to the google map when you click on "show map?" I know maps.google.com has scroll wheel functionality (A.K.A. I can zoom in and out using the scroll wheel) however it seems that the scroll wheel doesn't zoom maps at all on RC.com.

Just a thought!
Thanks for all your help this far!
Trev

I think that is a very good idea! It is only a tiny change to activate it.
