Hey Okanagan climbers...

Does anyone know if there is and DWS around here at all? Kelowna, Penticton? anywhere? I would love to find some if there is.

There's some good DWS 1/2 way between Kelowna and Penticton, just south of Rattlesnake Island. You need a boat though....

Drive North to Vernon via hwy 97, about half way down the lake on the east side you'll see a 60m high cliff rising out of the water. It overhangs the water of its entire height. The water bellow is deep with nothing to hit but air. DWS has been popular here for a long while. Access is via boat only, but the width of the lake at the point of the wall is about 1km. The rock is a little "dirty" some time ago back in the mid 90's a couple of climbers from Kelowna arrived at top with intention of developing the wall for sport climbing. Sadly their still-in-the-factory-coil rope was dropped from the top and that was the end of any development this wall would see. Get your boat, got check it out.

I don't recall seeing any climbable rock over the water at Skaha Lake and there's definitely nothing in Penticton on the Lake Okanagan side of town.
