Hey y'all.

I'm wondering if anyone would know of any climbing specific stretching exercices for opening the hips. It is a big problem in my climbing because I cannot be as close to the rock as I should be because of my hip flexibility limitations. For example I would like to be able to have both of my knees touching the wall, and also my torso. Might sound weirds but that's the best I can describe it.

i think it is called "split"(just like en danish).
i use primaly 3 leg streches:
split, for the muscles that pulls the legs inwards/together.
"spegat"? like the split but twist the hip, so on knee is pointing down in the floor, behind you. and the other leg is in front of you. both of'em fully strait ofc.
last exersise is a strecth for the glutes.
sounds like you should fokus on the split!

If you give birth twice your hips will stay opened.

Usually this is more of a problem with inflexibility in the hip external rotators, not the adductors (i.e. groin muscles).

mr rogers posted excellent mobility exercises from Mountain Athlete for just such a problem; I would recommend doing them all EXCEPT the Hip Swivel one--it is highly unlikely you need to increase your low back flexibility in rotation! In fact, I don't really recommend this for anyone anymore unless a physical therapist has specifically assessed you as needing to improve this. No need to promote instability in the low back.
