Hey all! Moved from Cincy. Used to climb at the Red River Gorge. Also climbed out in Utah In Big and little Cottonwood Canyon.

Looking for someone to go climbing with here in Philly. I live in South Philly. And i havent been climbing since March. Id love to find someone to introduce me to the area ( climbing wise) Id love to meet some fun lovin people who just go out and climb to have a good time.

Hello. There's not much outdoor climbing around Philly. You have birdsboro which is about an hour away (close to reading) all lead climbs. high rocks another hour. Mostly top rope and some lead. And the gunks which is up by new York. We have one gym in Philly called "go vertical" its on del Ave and Penn St. Behind club roxy. Ill meet up there if u want

There is a lot of rock about 1.5 hours north of you. This site has some of it listed. Also check out www.bluebiner.com for a very good 250 page eastern PA guidebook.

What type of climbing do you prefer?

Check out GoVertical in center city by the river at the end of spring garden street.
www.govertical.com

Walk into the gym and just ask a random climber to join them whether it be Sport/Tr/Bouldering, they'll likely greet you with a warm smile and a 'Welcome to Philly'.

Surely you'll hear people discussing weekend trips to the Gunks (GREAT trad climbing 2.5 hours away in New Paltz,NY), the Red or New River Gorges down south, or up to New Hampshire. If you ask around, you'll get an invite.

Enjoy!

Charlie
