i might visit a friend at appalachian state this fall for a camping trip and i read a story about grandmother mountain in boone, nc now being more open to the public. i'm curious about bouldering there, but all the threads i found on it here were really old. has anyone been to grandmother mt recently and can recommend it or better spots in the area?

I was there last year and climbed at Grandmother while visiting with a friend who goes to App. Never heard about any restrictions on it.

There is a ton of climbing at Grandmother and a slew of other places on the way to Grandmother from Boone.

Blowing Rock, Lost Cove, Black Rock, 221 Boulders, the Linville Gorge isn't far, etc. In short, you'll never want to leave if you like bouldering,
