What is your favorite destination for Sport climbing trips? I'm trying to plan a climbing trip for next May and need ideas because I'd like to go somewhere new! I've climbed in Mammoth/Bishop CA, Yosemite, J-Tree, Red Rocks, Lander WY, and around Park City UT...
Any suggestions?

I'll throw in a vote for Red River Gorge, even though I've only been there once. I was specifically at Muir Valley and the trails and belay paths are so nicely groomed. Beautiful, well cared for place with loads of climbing. Just don't mess it up if you go. 
New River Gorge is great too, and you can sneak in a way cool white water rafting trip while you're there. |

There is a ton of shade. Climb in the AM, Siesta through lunch, climb in the PM. Chase the shade.

Sinks Canyon will be climbable, but the road to Wild Iris won't open for another few weeks at least. St. George, UT and the surrounding area has some really good sport, and has some seen explosive new development.

what kind of sport climbing are you looking for?
I'd suggest smith, but if you are looking for quality hard/steep climbs you wont find them there. tons of vertical, crimpy, knobby routes. lots of pocketed slab climbs. Its definitely a fun place, I climb there every week and never get tired of it.

Checked our little weather station thingy - it was reading 36% RH. One day last week it was 6%. So a "dry" southeastern day of 45% will be a drencher for us in Zion.
 I would kill for 36%.

Very true.
I climbed with someone from New Mexico over 4th of July weekend. Chatting while driving, she asked me what projects I wanted to work on that weekend, and I said that weather being what it was (high 80s) I wasn't planning to work on "projects" so much as I was planning on chasing the shade and climbing easier stuff.
80s is really not that hot, she said.
Yeah... in NM, maybe... I figured that she would find out soon enough and I left it at that.
The first climb of the day, a warm-up, she came down and said: wow, I feel like I just took a bath in a hot tub/sauna.
