Gates are open to the Callahans on Saturday and Sundays, sunrise to sunset, September through March 15.
Typically the upper gate will remain open while the lower gate on Touchstone can be more variable. or this reason we recommend entering and leaving through the upper gate.
Directions to the upper gate are in the guide. Mileages to trailheads begin from the end of the pavement.

Whenever the State closes it to Fire Season.
The fire season can vary from year to year. This year was a low risk year with a short seasonal closure.

How far is the walk from the top gate compared to the walk from the lower gate? If both gates are closed, which one would be better to walk from? Thanks.
