hey how is everyone doing, new guy here, and am very interested in getting my feet wet.

i am in rockland NY, wondering if anyone else is, or knows of local spots.

i read about the valley of boulders, and think i found the trail leading to it...but its about a 20 min drive and an hour hike for me to get there. once i find that, i guess thats my nearest spot to start learning...unless one of you fellows can tell me about some other spot

You're 1.5 hours from the Gunks. Get on it.

i'm not sure whether to be super excited about this or really disapointed. i've been climbing here for nearly 2 years and have never seen another person here before. it's pretty awesome that there's a guide and that i can check out some routes i hadn't seen before but this will certainly make for a lot more traffic. oh well, that's progress i suppose. has anyone bought the guidebook? it says a lot about boulder problems, sport lines, and top ropes but does it say anything about lines that go on gear?

Well idk if its legal but i climb the cliffs right next to where i live, its high tor state park just park off old route 304 follow the trail up to the peak and there are some pretty good spots to climb. id say grade 1-2 class 1-5 climbs and if you dont feel like that the gunktz arent to far away( remember idk if high tor is legal or not)
