Heading for a windsurfing trip to Margarita Island off the Venezuela coast in February. Was just wondering if anyone knows if there is any climbing/bouldering on the island? Could provide for a good break or something to do on a no wind day.

I live in Venezuela.....and though I have never gone climbing in Margarita, I found something for you here: http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/listState.php?CountryStateID=141 there you should click on " Nueva Esparta" (that's the name of the state; Margarita is only the island's name). The area listed on the island was put by "pedroj". You should PM him, I think he would have more info. If I can help in any other way....just PM me. Diego.

You should check on the Península of Macanao. I understand that there are several bouldering spots an a couple of dozens bolted routes.

Is that on the island? I have heard that they are starting to cancel flights to Margarita because of the oil strike in Venezuela. Can anyone shed more light on this for me? Is it something that is likely to go on for quite a while? They have not yet cancelled any flights in February, but I am getting worried. Edited for spelling.
