Still a couple years away from doing anything where I'd be on a big wall for more than a day, but how do you take a dump in the middle of a big wall? And sleep - is there usually a ledge at some point to bivy on?

I've heard of the poop tube. I am not into big walls, but always heard about them.

Go in a WAG Bag or on newspapers (if the latter, put in a paper bag), put whatever bag in you nasty trash container - poop tube, kitty litter pail, etc. Google for terms you don't know.
Ledges - sometimes yes, other times no - depends on the wall. If no ledges, you get to haul a portaledge with you. Even if there are conveniently spaced ledges, it doesn't mean you'll always climb fast or efficiently enough to reach them in a given day. And just 'cause there are bivi ledges doesn't necessarily mean they're comfortable.

There are books that cover all this in great detail - read a few.

Cool, thanks everyone. As far as reading books goes - like I said, I'm a couple years away from even wanting to get on to a big wall. My time reading is better spent on information that's actually useful to me at this moment, I was merely curious. Thanks for all the info, much appreciated!

Guess it all comes down to how well you and your belayer are getting along that day eh?
