My chick is forcing me to go to amarillo to visit her family.. i put a stipulation in that i have to go to PDC to climb.. Question is... Is there any sport climbing there? is it all bouldering? Is it even worth my time? I climb in central texas where everything is sport, or trad if you go to E-rock.. Please let me know if i should try it.. should bring gear etc... or just a boulering pad..

Ha! That place is full of kitty litter sandstone, I have climbed tons of sandstone, even the fishers have better rock. There is a tiny bit of bouldering and a few crack lines that I did about 20 years ago, there is only one area I found with good enough rock to lead (trad) There is some top roping of easy stuff and there might even be bolts there these days....Have fun, West Texas is no place for a climber.

There is some good bouldering in Palo Duro Canyon. There is a bouldering guide for sale at the climbing gym. Their website is amarilloclimbing.com. I live in Amarillo and work at the gym if you need any more information.

Hey, regardless of what people have said there is some decent climbing to be had in the canyon. Most of the quality lines are boulders though a few good (chossy but fun) trad lines exist. Check it out on mountainproject and buy the bouldering guide from ARCH (our climbing gym)
