I was at Boulder Canyon this weekend climbing with some friends and on our drive out Sunday 10/31 around 3:00. At about mile marker 32 or approximately 7.5 miles into the canyon we saw a number of ambulances and emergency vehicles at the base of one of the approaches.
Anyone know what happened?
P.S. This was Definitely Unrelated to the forest fire over the weekend

Not completely sure what "unhooking yourself" means, but seems like a sad reminder of how stuck-rope situations can rapidly deteriorate into serious consequences. (One fo the most harrowing write-ups of this is Dave Roberts' account of the death of his high school climbing partner).
Do people have wisdom to share on managing a stuck rope?
