I was wondering if anyone else (like me) does any kind of complementary sports or training and how do you manage to get enough time to train both sports... I race on my Mountain Bike, is a 2-4hrs of training on a daily basis (except sundays... climbing day)+ my climbing regimen....

I make sure I complement someone at least once a day just so I have enough friends to belay me. And I complement my climbing partners when they pull a hard move with apparent ease. But really, I lift weights with a 3 day split taking off 2 days before climbing (climb Sat usually) and 1 day off after climbing, do the stairmaster or walk uphill on the treadmill for 1 hour every other day (4x/wk) and run outside about 2-3 times/wk. I am mostly trying to keep in shape for climbing because I don't really have another sport now since my bike got stolen out of my garage when on a climbing trip to Colorado a year ago. I emphasize full body strength and work out with basically a body building routine modified for climbing (high single arm pulls with a handle plus a few other movement specific lifts since I can only climb 1x/week due to school. I also do pullups with a vertical bar to keep the jugging muscles up to snuff. TRADitionally yours, Addiroids

I also do a lot of push ups just to train the antagonist muscles of climbing! keeps me out of injures! You should check the following article i wrote: http://www.rockclimbing.com/articles/index.php?ID=29 Is the best thing i have done for my climbing! I do full body weight/strength training 4 days a week for 1-2 hours a day. I'm only climbing 1 day a week because of work, but I'll be up to 2-3 times at my next shift change. In the gym I modify a few things and throw in some really odd stuff just for climbing, but my main goal in the gym is strength and weight gain. That's right, I LIKE to gain weight! Let the flames begin!!!
