How much climbing do people actually do at the Ouray Ice Festival? Is it mostly clinics and gatherings or can you get a lot of mileage on the ice? Can I easily find someone to belay me if I don't bring a partner? I have no friends. I have poor interpersonal skills, so social gatherings don't interest me. My only reason for going would be to find somebody to belay me when I climb. Is this festival for a loser like me who just wants to climb, or for a cool climber who wants to demo gear, pick up chicks, and watch competitions?

To which category of loser do you belong? This question that you ask is way too vague.

Ouray is like the god of all TRS destinations.

I stayed for the month a couple years ago, and wasn't short on people to climb with. Good times. And if you meet someone you trust/like climbing wtih, there's tons of ice outside of the park to enjoy...
