503 error just means it was down for maintenance (totally possible if it's a new site and they overlooked a minor detail or two) or it got too much traffic to handle at that moment.

Exactly. Error 503 is a standard HTTP error code, so the possible reasons are fairly limited.

I recall reading that usernames must be either first initial and last name or first name and last initial...or your full name. Something like that. Sooo, nah, probably not.

Well you can all relax. he posted on FB that he's shutting it down due to time constraints and other factors (non disclosure agreements with manufacturers etc)
