I find it concerning that new routes keep getting bolted in the park. In the last two years at least 13 new routes have been bolted near Ghetto, Mt. Gorgeous, and Toddler's Terrace. Last I knew bolting was prohibited in this park. Myself and most of the climbers I know have mixed feelings about this. While it is great to have some quality new routes at the park, the risk of losing access to the park is just not worth these handful of routes. Particulary routes like the Toddlers Terrace where a shit ton of vegetation was cleared to bolt the routes. This amount of cleaning, clearing and bolting can hardly go unnoticed by park staff. I'll be bummed when we are signing petitions to re-open climbing there. Mt. Williamson and the Grotto at Echo should be reminders that losing local areas to climbing is all too possible and the chance of thiings opening back up once they are closed is well....not very likely. I'm curious how the local climbing communtiy feels abou tthis. My vote is to PLEASE STOP BOLTING ROUTES. Unless, permission from the park is obtained. In addition, it seems that either there are some small bolting wars going on in the park or the park staff has started pulling bolts. Either case it is alarming. The three routes across from Ghetto have had all the lower bolts yanked and then replaced. Two of the routes near toddlers terrace have had the bolts yanked. I don't know if those have been subsequently replaced or not. If the park is pulling these and people are rebolting, this can only spell disaster for climbing there.

I saw a succulent on the ground yesterday... This is going to become a problem. Just like it recently was, and continues to be, a problem at Echo Cliffs. Is it just a desperation for local FA's on easy terrain, or do the First Ascentionists actually think they are doing the community a favor by risking everyone's access?

I really enjoy climbing there when I can get out there. I would be sad to see closures
