Jeff Dillon's revisions for his "Climber's Guide to Pilot Mountain State Park", basically an update to Kelley's chapter, include a new map of the area and a keyed map of climbing areas matching the one on the climber kiosk; those will print in color. It is free, either at the park office in handy half-page form, or for download in both formats.

He has noted two route closures, posted here; and he has swapped the route called 'Chicken Bone' with the one called 'Chicken Wing' here. Again, the fourth set of anchors at the Beach area, called 'Spindrift' here, is not mentioned, leaving confusion with 'Walking on the Beach'. Again, 'Every Major Dudette' is said to have bolted anchors, and given 5.6 which few agree with. Again, the other set of bolts at 'Howdy Dude', here called 'Howdy Dudette', is given a bomb, even though many new climbers think highly of their experience there. Again, the ratings for 'Place Your Bet' and 'Grandpa's Belay' will seem to many to be reversed.

Traveler's tip: the many and highly varied restaurants in King are much easier to get to than those mentioned in Winston.

Just went here yesterday with my girl. Wish I knew about this guide earlier.
