Haven’t climbed/visited RRG in about 7 years and hoping to plan a long trip sometime next year so I was hoping I could get the down low and how life is at the “modern” Miguel’s

Is camping at Miguel’s still 2 bucks and can I still use a camper in the parking lot/ any theft from cars in the parking area?
I am planning to stay for a few weeks and being able to work while I’m there could make the trip even longer so is the wi-fi in the newly remodeled basement reliable and what is the cost of it?
I haven’t seen any posting about theft in awhile is that still a problem? I remember back in the day there were some lockers at Miguel’s you could use is there anything like that now? Thanks in advance, any other tips anyone can think of would be great.

Miguel's is still $2 a night. As far as I've seen people still have small trailers or vans in the parking lot though I haven't done this myself so that might be worth a call. The internet is $2 a week, they reset the password on monday. Bandwidth is pretty low... once everyone is back from climbing you really can't rely on it at all. If you get on in the morning or later once everyone is gone there are no problems with the connection speed though.

As far as other facilities there is now a men's and women's bathroom with 2 stalls each and hot air hand dryers Angelic and much nicer showers for $1.50/ 8 minutes. It also looked like they had a washer and dryer that accepted coins/ tokens but i never used those.

i thought Miguels closed for the winter after thanksgiving? Might want to call them up and double check that they are open. You can still camp there, but i dont think youll have WiFi.

I could be totally off as well, i usually camp in the woods.

yeah, you can camp in the lot- plenty do. its much busier than it used to be, especially after rocktoberfest through the end of the month.

there is wifi- its $5 for the password, which gets changed every monday.

theft, if i recall, really wasnt an issue, but noise may be, depending on where you park.

or, you could stay at Linda's. 5 bucks a day including showers, and not as ghetto as Miguels. but you can't be a nasty dirtbag there, respect of the property is a priority...

i should have noted that i managed one night at Miguels before moving elsewhere. Linda's is far preferable, but if you're climbing anywhere but the southern region, its a fair drive to all points north.

This is correct. That place is a zoo.

The exact same thing happened to me. Spent two weeks there in 2003, then finally went back for a week last spring. What a zoo. We showed up at 3:00 a.m. on an Wednesday and had to park on the side of the road. It wasn't even spring break. It's like some crazy-ass summer camp now, and even the local customers have increased- schoolbus-loads of kids kept showing up just to eat pizza. I never thought I'd say this, but I'd take Roger's any day.

we must have been lucky in march during the Reunion week... 8 days.. 2 weekends and the worst of the noise was from the peepers in the pond.

Why all the hating on Miguels? It's not as quiet as Lindas but the location is better for a lot of crags and you can actually get food there. Sure, some people need to shower more but I find them at my gym too. Whatever, I just wanna climb and there are things I prefer about each place I've stayed there. Try it, and if it's not your thing try the natural bridge or lindas.

not hating on Miguel's, hating on the people that camp there, and the fact that it's a fucking ZOO. it's not about the ability to shower more, it's about what the opportunity to shower more represents - NOT being a stank-ass dirtbag moron...
