I'm a gym rat I'll admit it but I've slowly been moving outside and I've come to love bouldering on real rock much more than in the gym. Im a pretty solid V2 in the gym and V1+ outdoors. I'm Wondering if someone can give me directions and decent routes on or near the UMass Amherst Campus. I know that CRG is in Hadley but thats not opening until Decemberish. I'll Have my truck on campus so a few miles isn't a big deal but I don't want to be coming home to climb. Any ideas?

Check out the Western Massachusetts Climbers Coalition website (for places), and also the AMC Berkshire chapter website (for trips).

Also, NAC in Northampton (gym)

Is NAC the gym the first poster is talking about?

I am pretty sure that is the closest gym to UMass. I imagine there must be a pretty vibrant Outdoor Club there that could be pumped for information.

My son goes there, but sadly isn't a climber. Come to think of it, neither is our mailman. Hmmm...

NAC (Northampton Athletic Club) is the current gym.
CRG (Central Rock Gym in Worcester) is building a new gym in Hadley (HRG - Hadley Rock Gym, I believe). It is slated to open early February.
I believe that there is also a boulderers' co-op in Florence.

Hey, I just called CRG and they said the new gym in Hadley MA will have about 16,000 feet of climbing with a height of at least 43 feet! Wow!
