I like my Patagonia mid-weight capeline. it depends on what you're doing though I guess. Sometimes I wear heavy fleece if I don't plan on moving around much. I also wear my Stonewear tights under pants if I don't expect them to get wet.

I've got the Columbia bi-component lightweight thermals (can't remember the exact name). They have two layers -- poly on the inside and wool on the outside for a bit of extra warmth. They're way cheaper than Capilene, wick extremely well and are very warm for their weight. I usually have to get into something heavier for sitting around but they're perfect while you're moving (hiking/climbing) in 20-50 degree temps. I just bring a fleece or down jacket along for the belays. Note -- I get cold very easily.

Since I am a male maybe I should not answer but Capile from patagonia is the best....When it is cold out i will wear a long sleeve silkweight underneath midweight and the combo works great.
