Garage Wall 3.0

Here are a couple pictures from my newest addition to the garage wall. The new wall is the stand-alone 40 degree wall. There are 5 angles from vert to 60 degrees overhanging. About 35 feet wide and 12 feet high at its highest, but most of it is about 10.5 feet high.

That looks Incredible! Wonderful job to say the least! Thats quite an extensive collection of holds. :) Did you use any kind of instructions in the construction process?

By the look of the second picture, it looks like you have a ghost child haunting your wall or something. Awesome looking wall though, and good job with the new addition. How long did it take to put up?

That is awesome! Love it. I am soon going to be going to v.3.0 as well.

v.1.0 was a freestanding 6'wide x 8'tall
v.2.0 is 9' tall x 22' wide w/ 15*/30*/vert
v.3.0 will be 10.5' tall x 30' wide w/ lots of 45*/30*/15* and small roof

Thanks for the inspiration.

To answer your questions, I just imagined what I wanted, then bounced the ideas off some climbers and some friends that are good at building. Then I modified the plans accordingly. The newest wall(8' wide, 13' long 40 degrees overhanging) took about 15 hours of work to put up. My only problem is that I am the only one who climbs on it, so I don't know how hard the routes are. I think I have up to about v7 or so in there.

i had a really nice garage bouldering cave at one time. i thought it was awsome, and it was. but man thats AWSOME. i dreram of a day where i could once again afford to put my skills as a carpenter to use designing my home gym again. but, as with money, i dont own my place now, and dont think landlord would take it too lightly me building a cave in the garage of the house hes trying to sell. again, it looks great. keep up the good work

Beautiful job! I'm envious!

Just curious - what it cost you to build that - between the wood, holds, etc.

The total cost without holds has been about $1000. With holds, it is hard to say because a lot of them were gifts, but I would say I have at least $1000 in holds as well. Well worth the investment.

I am the only one who climbs on it, but I am always looking for people to climb with. I need people to tell me how hard some of the routes are, and I would love some routes put up by someone other than me. The first few sessions are free, then i take payment in beer or holds.Wink

Hi,
pretty lucky to have such a big garage :)

I just bought my first house and planning to use the basement room to build my own wall. I wish it could be that big!
Any suggestions for the construction/building?

Thanks~

edit: I would definitely give you some beer to train on that wall lol =D

Just wow...

What do you say other then that for this AMAZING home wall? This is truly inspiring, though at this rate it will take me 10 years to get a house let alone one that i can build a wall in!

You really have some talent to just put this together in your head with out any drawing plans, have you thought about taking this up any further? The talent is obviously there.

Thanks for making all of us jealous.
