Last night I was bouldering at the local gym and went for a shallow 2 finger pocket. I hit the pocket perfect but when i went to move off the hold i heard a crackling in the finger. When i came down of the route there was some pain in the finger but didnt feel broken, after discussion with some people they thought it could be a pulled tendon. The pain is only in the middle of my finger middle palanx, it hurts to make a fist but can put mild downward pressure on it. Anyone got any ideas what I could have done? how long im out for?

Could have ruptured a pulley tendon, or not. You could be out of action for a year, or not. Don't you think a visit to a doctor might yield more specific information than asking about it on the net?

Sure going to the doc would help, but i dont know how many dr's are climber specific. figure the climbing community would be a bit more helpful and save me a trip to the dr. Thats what these forms are for. Cheers though

Almost the exact same thing happened to me. Shallow 2 finger pocket fingers got stuck for a second in it when i fell and heard a popping noise. Could still use my finger but it was in alot of pain. My palm turned black and blue by the next day. Went to doc she did nothing it was a waste of my time. Bought a finger splint and it was luckily better in about 2-3 weeks. I still don't know exactly what happened though. Good luck with your injury

No pain at all. I forgot to mention it may have been a dislocation in my case. Dont expect a bruised palm ect.. Defiantly take a week or two off and then if no pain try climbing again but dont push it
