* Are you afraid of falling? * Are you afraid of losing control or getting injured? * Are you making appropriate risk decisions? - Join author of The Rock Warrior's Way, Arno Ilgner, for overcoming this fear. LIMITED OPPORTUNITY: This is the only time this year to take advantage of this training. - This clinic involves falling exercises, in small increments, beginning on toprope, then lead, and finally advanced lead falling scenarios. We wont progress students to lead falls until they are comfortable with toprope falls. - Youll learn: To fall properly and safely To give a cushioned belay Advanced falls: pendulums, while clipping, while committing, etc To distinguish between no- and yes-fall zones How to engage no- and yes-fall zones How to incorporate falling when assessing risks How to focus on what you can control To deal with fear of falling - When/Where: Friday, Jan 21 6-9pm, Enclosure Gym, Jackson, WY 307-734-9590 Saturday, Jan 22 9-1pm, RockHaus, Logan, UT 435-713-0068 Sunday, Jan 23 2-5pm, Wood River YMCA, Ketchum, ID 208-727-9622 Monday, Jan 24 6-9pm, Wild Walls, Spokane, WA 509-455-9596 Thursday, Jan 27, 6-9pm, Spire, Bozeman, MT 406-586-0706 - Investment: $79 for non-members; $69 for gym members Max number: 6 / clinic - Target student: Climbers who have been climbing at least 6 months consistently, know how to belay, and basic movement skills. Students should be able to climb at least 5.7 to 5.8. Being able to lead climb is not required, however you can't progress to lead falls unless you are lead certified at the gym. Student goals: Desire to improve commitment or overcome fear of falling. - Equipment Needed: Harness, shoes, belay device, and a helmet (if you want to wear one). The gym usually provides lead ropes and sometimes helmets.
