Battle of the Blort

OK, fess up, who else is trying to jump a few grades by losing a few pounds?

Looking at my old calendar, I see that last year on this date I weighed 229.5 lbs, but because last year pretty much sucked for me, I hit an all time high of 232 last March.

Eating better, smaller portions, increasing my excersize, and quitting alcohol have led me to a sticking weight of 212 for the last 3 months, but I want to get below 200. Last time I was there was 2005.

Post up your tales of success or whoa. Whoa!

Get your spleen removed. Between surgery and the missing organ I lost 10+ pounds. Five weeks later I was climbing two letter grades higher.

YMMV

get a bike.. ride at least an hour every few days. will probably do wonders. Approaches will be easier which will lead to more energy for climbing. you live in a nice area for riding.

Well, since I don't currently have a drivers license, I have begun to log some mileage on my ghetto mtn bike. Unfortunately the Winter months are not conducive to bicycle riding in these parts.

I am thinking of getting more hybrid style tires and logging mileage for training, in addition to straight up travel, when the conditions permit.

I'm on my 3rd flu of the season... even after getting a flu shot.

Down 15lbs from October.

Not really climbing harder though I am climbing a hella lot longer.

I was afraid the blort might find me while I'm all crippled like, but Physical Therapy has been beating me up pretty good, and kept the blort away.

I'd say I need to cut down on cheese and booze... but it's so good! I won't worry unless my weight actually goes up.

Booze I quit, but cheese? No way! Of course I only eat it in moderation, something I could not do with the alcohol.

Last month I went back to the climbing gym after a four year hiatus. Due to the extra poundage and a slowly recovering big toe injury (pod doc said osteo arthritis, nothing he could do, but accupuncture is helping tons) I was able to get send 5.10 off the proverbial couch. Unfortunately the grading system at my gym goes all caterwankus above that level, so I have limited means of charting progress.

I'm liking this idea. I heard Karen Carpenter was working the Freerider when she passed.

I've always found my grades go up the less I weigh. For me it was Lyme this summer: dropped about 15lbs, give or take a few.

Swimming always helped me, way more than biking, though biking is definitely one of my favorite ways to exercise.

Simply not eating comes in a close second, but of course that's easier when it's currently 90 degrees outside and as a result eating seems so yesterday.

Currently sitting between 160 and 165...have been as high as 183 as near as eight months ago.

I've gained 30 lbs in "sympathy" weight over the last eight months. The diet will begin in @ 3 - 5 weeks.

I'm expecting my climbing to jump three number grades when I ditch the weight. That's not really saying much though.

In the last week I have hand shovelled my 90 foot long driveway 4 times, hit up a couple pilates classes, and had a crusher session at the gym.

I then proceeded to slip on the last step whilst exiting the climbing gym, fell on my keister, and slammed my hand onto the pavement. It is a very cool shade of purple now, but at least it doesn't hurtez.

Somehow convinced the wife to shovel the driveway after last night's storm. I decided against telling her about the anti-blort benefits of this particular activity.
