Do you think there would ever be colored chalk. Like rock colors, so it wouldn't be so bad looking to other people that are around rockclimbing areas?

Kind of a really neat idea...you should sell it.
I think, as long as the agents used in dying the chalk don't harm the rock, it would be sweet.

kinda late to sell it i bet someone is doing it right now. I really dont want to do it any way I have algebra homework. Im only 14 so its free i guess to sell jest take my idea people do it.

Possibly one of the best ideeas I've heard of.......so simple yet I've never heard anyone suggest it. As for glow in the dark....that seems to be in perfect contradiction to what rock climbing is. paintinhaler has an idea here....did you get that while you were inhaling paint (I grab my paint)??????

Ummmm. Somebody help me out here . . . Does someone already market colored chalk? I may be wrong but I seem to remember hearing about a company that sells rock colored chalk. Not to take away from your brainstorm, paintinhaler, cause it's a very good idea.

An acclaratory:
The purpose of colored chalk is not to better see the holds but to actually match the color of the chalk with the rock so that the chalk marks become camouflage.
This type of chalk is sold by some manufacturers (Byson and metolious I think?) and can be done by simply adding somo colorant to your chalk while this is submerged in water, then you dry the chalk on the oven and VOILA!
Is usually used in areas where chalk marks are a problem like national parks and indian reservoirs, etc.

Hey guys, thanks for telling me it was good and everything. I talked to Metolius, and they said they have tryed it. But its not as good and sweat absorbint, becuase of the color pigmint. So i guess it has been done. I know of some liquid chalk its cleer and comes in a bottle. anyway thanks guy, gals

There Was colored chalk but I'm not sure if it caught on. I read somewhere that when It got wet it would slime up the holds or something like that. Yeah, I just looked it up. It does become slimy. The book says its almost only used where places require it to blend in with the rock. It would kinda suck though to have to carry 4 chalk bags to hold chalk that matched the color of the rock.

Depends on what they colour it with. Plain chalk is fine for the environment (well... unless you pour it everywhere), but some colouring agents are bad. Personally I think people are too whiney when it comes to chalk, I mean, many of the same people who complain about chalk, are the same people who support putting giant metal staircases in just so that they can reach these mildly chalked areas in the first place (at least where I live)... oops, off topic. Yeah, so long as it's environmentally friendly.
Then again, if you generally climb on red sandstone, and you take a trip to climb on grey granite, would you be courteous enough to switch chalk colours? Do you think there'd be jerks out there who would purposely use the wrong colours?

It is a good idea and it has been done. I used eco chalk for a while because I like the idea of minimal impact, but I had to switch back to regular chalk because it works WAY better. Now I just try to use as little chalk as possible.

I Dont think they will make colored chalk. There is not really a purpose it works the same. If u really want colored chalk just put food dye in your chalk!!
