When the Women Climb together as partners?

Well ladies when I go outside I do see some great women climbers as partners, some are excellent team together.
So are there any female climbers who have a regular partner outside or even indoor climbing where you feel there's a advantage,( as well as a positive feedback that translates into better climbing overall for both of you?)

A safe/competent climbing partner who "gets" you and you get them is pretty much all you need, sex is irrelevant.

If a great partner is also a woman, there is no weird sexual tension and crazy jealous SO to worry about. But then again my regular partner is a man in his 50's married to a very secure woman, and I don't have to worry about those things with him either.

Compare to men in their 20's, I find women are less likely to tie up their ego with climbing.

My partners may argue climbing with a woman who plans to have a baby very soon is risky since I am really not back climbing much since the baby :(

I like hanging out with other women, it's a nice change of pace. I've had a couple of really good female partners who were also good friends.....but I've also have some good male partners that were also good friends.

Only place where climbing with another women specifically is better than climbing with a man is when their height and/or strengths and weaknesses match yours. You can have the same relationship if a male partner of course, but the 5'2" women are going to have problems finding guys that are also 5'2" to climb with.

Sounds like you will be soon, you are doing a great job. Congrats on your baby!

I've have had great male partners, from ages 15 to 60 years old.
I've had a few women partners outside mostly in a group. As well as climbing inside with a couple of women.
However, once and a while I see these super hard core women as partners doing 5.11's and 5.12 they just seem in sync. You are right they look about the same size and weight as well, perhaps they've climbed as partners a long time together too.

I have a good friend and partner who is female. We mostly climb trad together (esp long routes) but some sport as well. We are quite different in height and build (she is small and gymnast strong, I am tall[er] and ballet dancer not-strong, haaa).

We work well together. She caught me on my first gear whipper ever. I feel there's an advantage in that we never have to look good for each other, we can camp together in a super laid-back style, and no one else can ever assume only one person is leading (cause there is no one with a penis climbing on our rope!).

We've taken our turns being the bitchy, stressed out leader with each other. Picking up the slack for each other when we can ... or not! (When, as the second, I wouldn't take the pack for her one day because I was already overloaded with a second rope on my back, she sucked it up and led an offwidth pitch she didn't think she could with the extra awkwardness, then told me at the top, "I forgot, boobs don't work on you." LaughLaugh)

We also clean up with the men when we road trip together, whether it's in the Valley, in a small town bar, or camping by ourselves in the middle of nowhere (dirt bike boys always appear somehow, it seems...)

If you climb adventure routes on a warm summer's day in the middle of nowhere when no one is around, you get to have the luxury of climb-in-your-undies days, too. Wink

I love climbing with Females for exactly the same reasons I like the Males I climb with.

Safe, interesting and great attitude to climbing.

It is inspiring to work stuff with someone when redpointing, so having someone of similar ability, likes the same terrain, in your quiver of friends is fun.

I heart you Aerili!!! I'm so happy to have you for a partner and friend.

You inspire me with your ninja-like mental strength, plus you don't let me bullsh$t myself when I can't find mine. Also, you understand why I wear mascara to climb. While my male partners accept this fact, it's just not quite the same as understanding.

I guess climbing with partners like Aerili I feel stronger and more feminine at the same time. It allows me to embrace the girlie aspects of myself that I may down-play with male partners [not wanting to appear "soft"], while simultaneously feeling more empowered to be a part of a strong all-female team.

I'm glad boobs don't work on you Aerili!! Can't wait to to see what what kind of shenanigans unfold on our next adventure!!
