Hey Guys... Recently i've started almost passing out whilst bouldering (get that high pitched noise, can't hear, everything starts going dark). Now it seems to happen on any of the problems where i use alot of strength (e.g. anything overhangy, upside down or when i'm doing chinups or dyno's). I'm fine with everything else, and it doesn't really slow my climbing down, like doesn't make me weak just makes me slow a bit until i'm fully conscious again... Anyway so i drink about 4 litres of water a day, about 6 meals (plenty of protein and carbs) which are fairly balanced, have a few vitamins and eat fruit and vege's. I never used to have this problem, just started a week or two ago. Can anyone suggest anything to try? don't have any medical conditions I tried breathing really heavily (i was pretty much hyperventilating) and it sort of helped ( i think) but generally when i'm climbing my breathing isn't a problem at all (not holding my breath or anything))

In all seriousness, that sounds severe so please don't take advise from unqualified people over the internet, go to a doctor!

Don't let this thread become a "In memory of..." Go see a doctor! Edited to add: I can think of a few reasons for this to happen, and ALL of them require medical attention...

Seriously though, the doc is your first visit for sure! Could be related to the high heat you guys are having right now?

Gahh, ok i'll go to the doctors then, none of the ones near where i live speak english as a first flippin language, there's no way they'll diagnose me correctly... But i guess i'll take a shot... didn't think the consensus would be that it's so serious, most of the people at the place i boulder were like 'meh, try this'... cheers tho

So, chances are pretty good that its nothing serious. BUT, there are also some things that it could be that are VERY serious. And the possibility that its something serious is high enough that you DON"T want to ignore it. Even an english-as-a-second-language should be fine. Go. See. The. Doc.

True, but i don't fancy landing on my neck, next time i'm up the wall and have a harness will see if i can KO myself... Does anyone know if there's any muscles that could cause pain when breathing just inside your chest cavity to the left? I know you can't feel pain in your heart so it is sometimes referred to your arm but i've been getting this pain which i put down to a pulled muscle and was just thinking that it feels like it's on the inside of my rib cage... Am going to doctors tonight, just realised i can take sick leave even if it's just an appointment!

Could be low blood pressure. Happens to me every so often, doctor said it's "normal" but to be careful. Best to have it checked out anyway, though.

I've had a similar pain from time to time almost my whole life. I've seen a Dr about it and he said it's nothing to be concerned about. I've found that slow, deep breathes seem to help with the pain.

4 litres?!!! Don't drink so much damn water. You are thinning your blood out, which makes it hard for your brain and muscles to get enough oxygen. But, keep in mind I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. Also, go to a doctor.

1st try to go to a doc and get some blood work done if there are no competent docs where u are at u can still get blood work taken and have the results sent to the us for a competent doc you have classic symptoms of vertigo, are u female? you could have major problems or they could be very minor, iron deficency could be an obvious problem, low blood sugar could also be a problem those are easy to fix, but I advise u to get professonaly diagnosed, how old are you, are u a vegitarian? good luck

OCD, He said he was going to the doc like two weeks ago... Wonder if he didn't make it or if Kachoong had it right and it was just the viagra and codral's not posting out of embarrassment heh heh. Seriously, it would be interesting to know how it turned out. Hope he's okay.

Most definitely not enough if you live in a hot country. I've heard of people drinking 4 litres per hour when doing heavy exercise, let alone per day...

Yeah, a gallon and a half a day in the desert is easy.

It sounds like you may have something wrong with your thyroid gland if you're eating correctly. That's just my guess, you still need to see a doctor.
