Now the medical community has some respect for acupuncture, Which has helped many people with joints, migraines, injuries, increasing blood flow, fertilty , injuries, stiff necks, sleeping problems, and detox the body. Myself, I have had good results with stiff necks, pinched nerves, headaches. and some tension areas. The only problem is its temporary and often not covered in insurance plans. So what has it done positive or negative for your injuries, or medical issues?

In reply to: Myself, I have had good results with stiff necks, pinched nerves, headaches. and some tension areas. As you can see, the placebo effect is real. Jay

if its not considered real medicine why would the Chinese be doing it for 3000+ years would rather get the needles in me then have some legal drug dealer throwing this and that at me to mask the pain....i have had back pain for years and granted its never gone forever but if i can get a needle someplace and it gets rid of it for awhile its a lot better then the Dr saying there is nothing that i can find wrong here take this muscle relaxer or pain med.... not really sure why some people have their heads up their ass and think that western medicine is the only way to deal with things...next thing people will say is that massage doesnt really work with getting rid of knots in your muscle

Well, you're free to make that choice, and if you're susceptible to the placebo effect, as you seem to be, then maybe it's a good choice.
In reply to: not really sure why some people have their heads up their ass and think that western medicine is the only way to deal with things...next thing people will say is that massage doesnt really work with getting rid of knots in your muscle Not really sure why some people are so gullible that they fall for sham treatments that have proved repeatedly to be no better than placebo, and that have no plausible biological mechanism. Next thing you're going to say is that homeopathy really works. Jay

Various experiments (acupuncture with real needles, but in the "wrong" places, acupuncture with fake needles) have demonstrated that acupuncture is placebo - no more, no less. So, given the well-established evidence that expensive placebos work better than cheap ones, I suggest you go out and find the most expensive acupuncturist you can. Or, y'know, take the advice of a real doctor.

Just because it's always been done that way doesn't mean it's not very, very stupid.
