Hey Brad, that's v. impressive and great training. Maybe it's even better if you have a pad on the floor so you won't hurt your feet when you jumped down. May I ask what grade you on-sight at? I want to do similar training to improve my climbing too.

Thanks everyone! I live in Kansas and am not a rock climber but I have a great appreciation for the strength training of climbers.

I will consider getting mats. They would have come in handy a time or two.

Hi Brad,

If you are interested in grip strength, check out John Brookfield's books: The Gripmaster's Manual and Mastery of Hand Strength. Lots of great training ideas and kind of fun to read. He also has a column on the IronMind website.

True! My best is two very small steps on a single rafter both with palms away and with an alternate grip.
