The tendon running on the outside of my shoulder has been bothering me for a couple weeks. It hasn't hurt all the time just after I do mantle moves or anything in a push-up motion. I have 2 questions. 1)What can I do to strengthen the tendon. 2) Is there a certain amount of time I should relax for before climbing again? I have been palnning to take a week off, but want to climb soooooo bad. PLEASE HELP.

I don't know what this means, and I know the anatomy pretty well. Do you mean the lateral shoulder, posterior shoulder...inserting on the humerus, or up on top of the shoulder, or between the neck and shoulder?

Try to study the anatomy a bit more. If you can improve the precision of the question, I'll try to help.

judging by the google image of the shoulder I think it is or is near the supraspinatus tendon. The pain is mainly if I pick my arm up out to the side. It feels like the pain is coming from the socket. Sorry if my description isn't on point. Let me know if you have any more questions that could help the diagnosis. Thanks.

Disclaimer: Not a doctor, nor anything even close to it

From my own experience with shoulder injuries, Tendons do not heal fast. At. All.

If you truly believe it is Tenden, rather than muscle, DO NOT PUSH IT. you are out for multiple weeks MINIMUM.

Aching pain triggered by random movement within and overtop the shoulder may be Impingement syndrom.

Let the shoulder heal for three weeks minimum. After that start light weight, high rep excercises, use caution above the shoulder, stop if you experience pain. Any sharp pain may be redamage to the tendon, so be careful and cautious.

I know it isn't the news you wanted, but I continued to push my shoulder, reinjuring it. It took me two years to heal properly.

Go. See. A. Doctor.
Advice for injuries gleaned from the net, particularly when you can't even provide a precise enough description, varies from marginal to detrimental usefulness.

I'd have to agree with Summerprophet in that if you don't allow it to heal, you could be looking at a long time before a full recovery; if ever.
This also depends on age.
At 50, having injured both shoulders in separate accidents over the last two years, my second injured shoulder is about 80-85%.
I think part of the problem you can't isolate the damn things, so they can heal.
Also someone suggested visiting a doctor- Good idea!

If it is supraspinatus, ythen you have a rotator cuff injury. There are some good exercises in video form here:

Otherwise, I agree with the advice of avoining overhead motions for a while. If the exercises don't obviously help within a week, see a sports doc or PT.
