We have a sweet piece of climbing wall against our shopping mall here in South Africa too. But I think I'll get locked up if I even just look like I am planning to climb it... breathe stone RoC

The outside of the elevator for the parking garage where I work would make a great crack wall. Co-workers still want to see me climb it.

Tried a traverse across a polished marble countertop. Didn't work all that well it was very very slick.

We actually have some natural marble around here. SW Virginia. A place called Devil's Marble Yard, which is an entire side of a mountain strewn with chunks of marble, (very dangerous to climb on, jagged corners and twisted ankle for every attempt). Funny thing, I was out hunting around for boulders today and found one that is marble, plus it is a 45 degree overhang, pretty cool. It's about 50 ft long. Looks like a new project for me. Marble seems to help you gain better hand strength because it has so little friction. If you live in SW VA and are interested I could get you good directions to check it out. -Jay
