ATTENTION CLIMBERS!

Due to nesting peregrine falcons, the section of the Trapps cliff between the routes Beginner's Delight (5.3) and Triangle (5.9) is temporarily closed to rock climbing.

This is the Mac Wall, and Guide's wall (Beginner's, Minty, Mme G's), V3, and just before Middle Earth.

- Do not use ascent trails or rappel routes that access this area.
- Do not use the section of the cliff base climber's trail between these routes.
- Please refrain from excessive noise making while in the vicinity of this closure.

The Mac wall is not near the closed region. Triangle gives a solid right boundary to the region. "Just before Middle Earth" conveys less information, since there are eleven routes in the region right of Triangle and left of Middle Earth, including the very popular routes Never Never Land and Absurdland.

The closed region might be narrowed after the birds choose a nesting site.

As Rich said, the Mac wall is *not* included. That was posted due to a bad synapse in my brain that substituted "Beginner's Delight" with "Three Pines", which I explained downthread.

Quite the contrary, seeing Peregrines slice through the air like Mig Jetfighters is always the highlight of my day when I climb. I love that they are here. Those who feel "restricted" need to broaden their horizons a little bit. Go explore.

yep, keeps the pigeon population down too ;)

Rob if you don't know, they have a webcam at an office building in PA that has hosted a falcon aerie for many years and is really cool to watch.

I totally agree that the falcons are great and I love that they are nesting at the Gunks. I don't mind at all that I have slightly less route choices during their nesting season.
