We're flying in from the US for the first time. We're looking into the possibility of climbing in the Blue Mountains around 15 Aug - 18Aug. Any suggestions where to climb? What can we expect as far as weather? is it too cold? wet? Us parents climb at grade 20 (5.10b/c) while our 14 yrs old son climbs a lot of harder routes (grade 30+/5.13c+). Also any ideas for accommodations would be helpful as we're not bringing camping stuff with us - just rope and quickdraws and gear.

I've only visited briefly
Ive been in October, Feb (rainy and hot) and May. In October it was cold in the mornings (down jacket and gloves) but Really hot by afternnoon, (Shirts off) People climb all through winter just go to sunny areas in the morning.
Boronia point had a good range of climbs for a mixed group and some shade on a Hot afternoon (take a few bolt plates)
Shipley area which is easy access has a good range of grades but is in the sun (we went in the mornings)
I only onsight 19ish, but found the climbs to be well protected and the moves quite obvious so it is easy to try things you have to redpoint especially if you son will be able to get your draws back.
A stick clip would be handy, but there seemed to be suitable branches at most cliffs
There are heaps of people climbing at your sons grade around.

hey,
planning for the climbing trip to blue mountain, any budget accommodation near the crags? camping ground? would it be easy to rent a car and drive or walk to the crag to crag?
appreciate any helps.
