It sounds like a workout where you have to waste a lot of time recovering after wards.

Trying it for the first time tonight (minus the crimping part for me) I'll mostly likely be dead before I complete it so I'd like to say goodbye to everyone in advance. I'm no expert in this workout obviously. I talked to my brother the body builder and asked him what he thought the benefits would be. He said most likely I'd get injured and I shouldn't do it. So I decided not to take his advice and just try not to get injured instead. He also said that since all my blood will be in one part of my body when I switch to the next muscle group this (muscular confusion) will make it so that my body burns lots of fat in the new muscle group since there will temporarily be no blood in the new muscle group. I'm trying to cut the last few pounds I can so i liked this idea. Anyways, sometimes we don't know why what we do works, I'm just trusting brian that it will do something. There's some articles on muscular confusion you can google that are interesting though. PZ That's not how the body works.

Flesh, if this works for you, and you tick a 13, You gonna bother to let RC.noob members know which boulder problem you ticked... Or are you gonna dodge the question and start a new training thread about the next grade each time?

To be perfectly honest, I prefer to stay anonymous, if I start naming boulder problems, I will no longer be anonymous. If people don't like what i have to contribute, then I'll leave. I'm only here to help. If I was here to spray, I'd take a different approach. My success doesn't require anyone else's belief. I have my reasons for being anonymous there will be a point in the future where I will no longer be. haha, we all know who did every problem EVAR!!!!! you have some real issues, get help

flesh wrote: Okay, now that the drama is out of the way. Back to the topic. Here's my take on this workout, It's *&^(*&^ hard! I knew ahead of time I wouldn't last ten minutes in any of the three areas so I decided to try five. Also, I knew there's no way I could last for 6 rounds of the three, push, pull, and hang. So I decided I'd try three. Also, I'm not a mutant like Brian so I didn't one are hang crimps and get injured, I one arm hanged a sloper, fully open handed all pads, one hand. So for the hang section, I would hand a sloper with one hand till failure, which was between 10-30 seconds depending on how pumped I was, then I'd switch to the other hand. Back and forth back and forth until five minutes was up. Then I would do pull, for this I would campus v0's and v1's, only resting enough between go's that I could could complete the next problem I tried to campus, for five minutes. Next, I did push ups for five minutes. I don't train the push muscles much so this was pretty hard. I'd start off with around 20 push ups till failure, then rest for 10 seconds... then maybe 10, rest for 10 seconds... 4, rest, 4, rest , 4 rest, 3, etc... for five minutes. The pump is insane. I'd rest for ten minutes and do it all again, like I said, three times total. Alll in all I guess I did about 40% of what brian does. I can't really see any benefit in doing this compared to other things I could be doing. I'm guessing the one arm hangs could improve my power enudurance, somewhere between a boulder problem and a route in terms of power needed and time spent hanging. I'm sure all the push exercises would help in the injury prevention category without adding much mass since it's super high rep focused and relatively low weight. Maybe other could benefit from the pull workouts, however, I've never felt like my pull power/body tension was the reason I couldn't complete any certain boulder problem. It's always been finger strength to weight ratio for me. I do best on big moves and extreme body tension already. Maybe these pull workout would help others more. I'll probably try it once more before I make any final decision, shoot for four rounds next time. I'll probably add weight for the one arm sloper hangs. Also, instead of campusing or doing pull ups, I think I'll do malcolm smith style three point lock offs. I'll grab a full on wrapper jug with one hand and put my tennis shoes on to smallish foot holds in the froggy postition (both knees faced outwards) and do a big reach move and hold my free hand in front of the next hold without grabbing it counting out the time. then switch hands. You can seach malcolm smith pro tips on youtube to check this out. I'll probably alternate the push exercises as well, switch between shoulder presses, push ups, and dips. One thing's for sure, anyone who has the discipline to do brian's full workout would definately have the discipline to climb v13, assuming you don't get injured (unless your a mutant, please don't ever try to do one arm dead hangs in a crimp position!). It hurts to move my arms in any direction. Let me know what you guys think if any of you try it. did you know that your is not the same as you're?
