So when my 6 YO ask to hit the town Library I thought of my old school days. Our library was a stuffy old place with nothing but Text books and Microfiche. Now Iím not sure if itís just our town is special, but our Public library has:

FREE:
Almost all Resent best seller and they can order oneís for you.
Wi-Fi
Computers
Classes and lectures on everything from Gardening, Building, Decorating, healthy eating, CPR and Loads of other courses all FREE
Music Media Room where local artist come in and play
Hundreds of subscriptions to Magazines, We are talking Climbing, Popular Mechanics Many More.
Kidís Drawing room
Kids Computer Game room
Kids Play room

Not free but very inexpensive:
NEW Movies on DVD ($1 for three days)
Copy/Printing/Binding (Pennyís on the dollar compared to Kinkos)
Coffee shop
Full Meeting Rooms with projectorís
Party Space

Our town Dose not have a cultural center so the library kinda takes itís place But I am really impressed Check out your local Library You might be surprised by what youíre missing or not taking advantage of your tax dollars.

It's not fair to single out the Squamish public library staff from the rest of the world . . .

I live right next door to our public library and it is a great resource. 18 years ago when we bought the house, the first thing I did was walk over with the kids and helped them get a library card. With the explosion of the internet in that time they never really used it much, but I am over there all the time, mostly to get books on inter-library loan and giving demonstrations and programs.

The selectmen recently approached me about buying a sliver of land to enlarge. I told them that I would sell if they wanted to expand, but not if they wanted to put a parking lot on my side which is right outside my living room and bedroom windows; I do not want car doors slamming at all hours. They haven't gotten back to me since I squashed that idea.

Not to mention the transients sleeping in the parking lot.

Watch out those book worms might get a gang on you and pressure you to sell.
