I dun get it. These crazies who think they're getting raptured next week.... "We're budgeting so that our money runs out on May 21, we're living life until then and praying" -Crazy fundy 1) you realize that when you're rong...nevermind. 2) wouldn't it be much more 'Christian' of you to donate your money to poor folk who are stuck on earth after you get raptured, rather than blowing it all?? They can donate the money to me! I'll be drunk... not because I believe it is Judgment day... just because it's a weekend. I could really use the funding from the crazies to get some good stuff.

Apparently it's supposed to be earthquakes. Really?? You're going to bring about the end of the world, and your going with earthquakes? Lame.

Jesus, according to Mark and Luke wrote: Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. 2,000 years have passed, 'many generations' later = prophecy FAIL. You know, Eric... I actually agree with you on this one. Jesus/God was wrong.

You may want to tattoo "fail" across your forehead, because that's what you just did.

In reply to: You mean like Jesus? Jesus, according to Mark and Luke wrote: Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. 2,000 years have passed, 'many generations' later = prophecy FAIL. So I assume you believe that 1)Jesus said this, and 2)It was written down in the gospels to be read by people of the generation in question. When did you say these gospels were written again?

So I assume you believe that 1)Jesus said this, and 2)It was written down in the gospels to be read by people of the generation in question. When did you say these gospels were written again? Actually, no, I don't, as I'm certain that Jesus didn't think he was God, nor that he would/could return in the future... He knew that he was a man, just like you and I. But it's not what I think that counts, as it's not my belief system anymore. Now, ask those same questions to the vast myriad of Christians, and most if not all confidently believe those are the words of Jesus, and that the Gospels were written by people who witnessed him utter those words. Of course to Christians, in hind sight, it can't be meant for that generation, even though that is what the words mean, because it didn't happen, and Jesus can't possibly be wrong, so it HAS to be reinterpreted... Perhaps even to the point of changing what he was talking about all together (see reply from climber49er above). As to when... Most Biblical scholars believe Mark was written about 30-40 years after the death of Jesus, and that it was used as source marerial for Matthew and Luke. Matthew, written ~10-20 years later, is according to most scholars, another falsely attributed (to Matthew) work in the NT, like 2 Peter. Luke, about the same time, perhaps later. So, given the lifespans of people then, it is unlikely that it was even written towards the extreme end of that 'generation*' but well into the next, or even 3rd. *According to Matthew, a 'generation' could be 64 years, or 38 years: http://www.thercg.org/questions/p199.a.html#c
