A friend just asked me "scoliosis on backbone, can I still climb." I know some climbers who do, but I don't know if they take any precautions. Obviously, her doctors are the source of info, but anyone here a=have any experience with this? Like most doctor visits, it's best to have a few fatcs before you ask questions too.

I have scoliosis and have had it since the age of 13 or 14. Mine is more of a twist of the spine than a bend, but after having some x-rays done about a week ago for military VA, the bend has gotton worse. With all this I do not do anything different than the average person. I would say that your friend should check with there Doc to see if they need to do anything different. Check with the Doc. Just giving you my side of it. Bill

It really depends on the severity but I would recommend climbing in a chest harness to protect her back if she falls or simply belaying
