Just wanted to get the word out that the new PA climbing and bouldering guidebook is now in print and can be found at www.bluebiner.com It covers East, central and West PA. Thanks

Got mine in the mail today. Sweet book Rob! I was surprised how compact it was, considering it is 500 pages long! Great pics and great info!

Totally confused...What happened to Birsboro? Why isn't the only legal sport climbing area in SE PA not listed in your book? There are no access issues at the Bird. (If access was an issue, why did you list Safe Harbor?)

Safe Harbor is not included in the guide. There is a one page access note that Eric Horst wanted included so that people know it is not open. I will be putting Birdsboro in the next printing. It was left out for two reasons. There is already a guide online and I was very concerned about driving a lot of traffic to a very crowded area that has had issues in the past. I really wanted a little time to test the waters with this. If climbers are ok, I will certainly add it to the next printing. Thanks Happy, safe climbing Rob

Actually Safe Harbor is listed in the table of contents, whereas Birdsboro is not. I understand that there is only 1 page on SH, but, it's closed. THe Bird is open for climbing year round, with no access issues. As far as crowds are concerned, there are over 125 bolted lines, a porta potty and on any given weekend day no more than 40-50 climbers. I am not trying to argue. I am simply disappointed that Birdsboro, an area that has been carefully developed was purposely omitted from a comprehensive guide to climbing in PA.

Gail, I'm wondering if you read the section on Safe Harbor? It specifically states that it is closed, and climbers should not go there until access is cleared up. I think it was a good move to put this page in the book.

Joe, Of course I read it. That said, it's still in the table of contents and the only legal sport climbing area in southeastern PA is not. There is nothing more to say. Rob chose to omit the Bird from the book and that's the way it is.
