i've got a bump on the bone near the head of my 5th metacarpal, its not very painful unless i do a handjam and it hurts some with a storng handshake. i hit the hand cracks pretty hard a month or so ago it felt good then and i didn't even notice it, until weeks later, i haven't been climbing much the last month but the pain and bump is still there.
is this a common injury? i can't afford xrays
any suggestions for treatment?

Really, you can't afford x-rays? They are pretty cheap. Maybe skip two weeks of "hitting the hand cracks", and put the savings toward some imaging of the "bumps" on your bones. Tough to treat "bumps" without having some idea if they are made of bone, or scar tissue, or inflamed bursae, or whatever else.
Whether it's common or uncommon, I don't know, because I don't know what your bumps are made of.

thank you so much for your advice, i think i'll take it easy on ther jams for a bit and ice it. then if it persists i'll get the exrays.
i wonder how common it is to fracture hand bones while jamming?

well its stil painful, i'll probably get it xrayed this week, anyone know of an affordable xray place in western warshington? i've got no insurance...
