(please forgive any techno spray)

I never had much interest in them in the past. I did podclimber, but Horst has slowed down his podcast creation.

The combo I have now of my cell phone and a bluetooth speaker and a good podcast listening app has, finally, allowed me to quit local talk radio on my daily commute.

And I'll be listening to some of ma's recommended podcasts as well.

Podcasts are just recorded radio-like programs with a particular theme, but instead of being broadcast they are recorded in a format that can be downloaded to an iPod or similar device. You can also download them and play them on an ordinary computer.

Their main use is to isolate iPod users from their surroundings.

Not necessarily. In the past couple years podcasts have accounted for some of the most interesting discussions for the long drives to RRG in clamhead's car.
