I'm visiting a friend in Virginia and we're looking for a place to top rope and camp out. This will be my first time outdoor top roping. Are these Routes too difficult for a beginner? The alternative is Calderock (which has easier routes per this website) however, there is no camping. Also, is camping free here? Any advice would be great. Thanks everyone.

Since I did not receive a response I will write my own. this was good beginner top rope in my opinion. Solid tree anchors close to the top cliff 5.2 and a 5.5 were good for first routes outdoor, warm up etc. Drive down raven rock road until you see a locked gated gravel road to your left. There is enough room to park on the side of the road next to the gate. We hiked back about half mile to the radio tower. Go left up and around the tower. we camped right at the top of this hill. good open spot/ fire pit. from there the rock is further down the trail. Hike further from this campsite/radio tower. This path T's into the appalachian trail. Take a left there and walk another 1/4 mile and you cant miss 'em. opens up to great view and very tall main wall. 60M top rope needed. for highest climb. total distance from rd Appx 1 to 1.5 miles. There is another campsite 50ft back in the woods from the overlook if you wanna camp closer to the wall. Remember to pack out garbabe and leave only footprints.
