Today I got my 1st infury. I was doing a dyno, I jumped and I didn't get it so I fell and my ankle landed wrong. I don't know what is wrong. It is hard to walk, and I am in pain right now, in bed. Darn, there are not going to be any scars to brag about.

hey! it sounds to me that you just had a minor concusion... you should apply ice or something hot (m.d. have discuss a lot about this... no conclusion yet what is actually better...) just use the one that you feel confortable with... get some rest and wait.... if it gets purple like or it really hurts after 48 hrs you should probably go qith the school nurse....

Is it swollen? Red? tender? Could be a sprain or worse. Put ICE on it for 10 minutes take it off for 5 back on for 10 off for 5 on for 10 repeat repeat repeat (taking it off for 5 minutes will insure that the cold does not impair your circulation). Hey Garbonzo...a concusion on the ankle not possible. Your right about the 48 hour thing though. If the pain is really bad you might want to see your doc sooner than that though. Elevating it should help a bit with the pain if it is throbbing. Hope this info helps a bit. Take care!

I think garbanzo meant contusion. Not cuncusion. Right? All a contusion is is a bruise. You could also have a hematoma. Which is a bruise on the bone (very painful) But no perm damage.

i had the same problem a few months ago, so i think it is possible that its an eversion or an inversion sprain, just ice it for 48 hours and try resting it for at least a week. [ This Message was edited by: marcsv on 2001-11-18 20:21 ]

'Kay. I don't know any medical terms, but I do know from experience that it is really easy to trash your ankles while bouldering. Once you injure your ankle, for some reason, it is much more prone to injury after that. Moral of the story: make sure you rest your ankle enough before you get back to your regular exercise program, otherwise you could find yourself nursing that same ankle in the near/far future.
