I sat next to Sharma while he waited in the bathroom line at Miguel's...

...and I did climb with camhead.

Chris Sharma threw a chalk bag into the crowd and I caught it...and I'm NEVER washing that chalk bag as long as I live...NEVER!!! Cool

If you combine that with a strict protocol of kissing his autographed poster during morning prayers, you will achieve 5.15 climbing ability... in your afterlife.

I put my project at risk one day by showing it to him. After about 3 attempts he threw his shoes on and stepped up to the first move. Pulled up off the ground for a few seconds a few times but never stuck the 1st move. He looked at his fingers and immediately decided not to put any of his other projects at risk by trying it any further.

The next season I was finally able to send it. To this day it stands as the greatest project of all boulder problems I ever put time into.

Not sure if Chris has ever returned to finish it off but to keep things in perspective. I still got burned by Natasha Barnes who flashed it, then later by Kehl in like 3 tries. Just one of those really fingery problems that maximizes the crimp.

I heard Ethan Pringle asking Natasha Barnes for a pre-send "release" before a burn attempt three years ago at Hueco near the base of Chris's Arete'.

Bouldered with Leo Houlding in Huaraz after meeting him and his mates in The Thai restaurant the night before. This was in 2000, and I think I remember Leo bragging about how he had turned 18 that day. needless to say I couldn't get off the ground on his warmup problems. I did howevere drink more beer than he did that night in El Tambo.

Better than that...

Ever seen Mike Call's vid "Best of the West"?

The problem is Doggie Jump, there's even a try of me throwing for the lip. Chris was working "Filet Mignon" nearby which is also in the vid.

As far as Chris posting... He reads your posts and if he posts he won't reveal who he is, as far as I know your Chris. lol, but I doubt it, he's not the type of person to mess with people from what I remember.

If you really want to ask Chris some serious questions try looking up an email through one of his sponsors, Evolv perhaps? Maybe Prana. Send him a mail introducing yourself and throw him some questions. If he's bored on a rest day he may just return it.

Chris is a cool dude, he'll likely want to hear as much about your climbing as you would like to hear of his.

About five years ago my partner had just come down off South Tower in the Needles SD and ran into Herb and Jan Conn. They were out for a hike so we didn't climb with them but we did chat with them for a while about their FA of the route we'd just done.

Let's just say it was a tremendously humbling experiencing to hear about how Herb lead the climb with 60 feet of goldline, dime store sneakers, and a hand full of pitons placed only at the belay.
