And I don't mean, who thinks he/she is the resident Grand Poobah, all-knowing, ruler of the domain... All the mods think they are that... and of course, anyone in the "Who's been here longer than 8 years?" thread thinks they are. but I digress..

I am actually wondering who the REAL bonafide, bill paying, rent collecting owner is for RC.com. I lost track a long time ago. Is it someone that climbs and maybe even posts here, or is it a corporate site now?

That doesn't tell us anything. Namemedia is more like a property manager who rents booth space at the farmer's market bazaar. The owner provides a roof, and then each farmer runs his own business.

Look at the Rockclimbing.com Team page.
Scroll down and you'll see:

Website Owner & Management
Rockclimbing.com is owned by Namemedia, Inc. and managed by Daniel Du Toit (ddt).

I don't know who this DDT guy is really, but he's been point-man, or more likely the vision and decision-maker, of this site for several years.

His facebook shows rockclimbing and mountainbiking as activities.

From south africa.. which is interesting since there is a notable astronomer by the same name from SA who died in 59.

CEO of Sunspace.. SunSpace is a private South African company, designing and building high-performance earth-imaging (observation) satellites to clients internationally. More information at:

Pretty cool shit..

You guys need a little help on your RC.com history. Might be fun to do an article on it. I don't have time (and I don't write for free anymore), plus I'm prolly too close to the subject to be objective. Any aspiring journalists want to give it a go?

Well, I'm older. And married.
The word "College" in the USA means university.
In Canada, "College" is usually a trade-training school. And last year I was a student in an art school.
Most Canadians don't like to be called "American" although logically the name fits anybody living in North America -- Canada, America, and Mexico.

Finally the "loser" certainly doesn't fit what I do. Especially today, I had a wonderful day with an excellent group, scrambling an excellent peak with wonderful views, with excellent summer weather. Then I got home to my beautiful wife and and excellent dinner.

Edit to add: I always look for a way to brag about my mountain adventures.
