A couple friends and myself are going to France and were planning to climb in La Gorge De Tarn. I just saw a posting on a website that says some of the climbing is closed.

http://www.planetmountain.com/english/rock/crags/falesia.html?idfalesia=172

"UPDATE 08/06/2011 - The Millau section of the French Alpine Club informs that until further notice climbing has been banned in the sectors Amphithéatre, Calmez vous, Navire, Coma idyllique, Arc en ciel, Choucatine, Oasif and Planète Causses, which include circa 150 routes."

Can anyone tell me anymore about this? Is it the entire Gorge area of climbing? We are staying near Les Vignes and were planning on just climbing around there. HELP, any information would be great!

Thanks!
Michelle

Hi,
I climbed in the Gorges du Tarn in June. Some routes are closed but a lot of are still open. Execpted in l'Oasif, l'Amphitheatre and a few other sectors, you can climb. There are even a lot of "new" routes, wich are not in the guidebook.
Moreover, you can climb at The Boffi or in the Gorges de la Jonte, there are also some nices sectors.
Have a nice trip,
Clément
